タック＆パティ“ドリーム”
再び先週、店頭に見当たらず取り寄せていた品だ。昨夕、ちょうど一週間かかって、入荷したとの連絡あり。昼休み、昨日の今日でさっそく受け取りにいってきた。レジに取り置かれた商品を受け取るというのは、店頭で見付けて買うよりも、待った分だけ心浮き立つものだ。
職場に戻り、取るものも取りあえず開封。ミニコンポにセット。
ああ、これはゆっくりと聴くべき音楽だ。
帰宅し、さっそく家のオーディオで再生。ネットである程度試聴してはいたのだけれど、やっぱりストリーミングでは聴こえる音には制約があり過ぎる。思った以上にセンシティブな旦那のギターと、力強くも心地好い嫁の声。夫婦生活が円満かどうかは知る由もないけれど、ふたりの音楽生活が至極円満なことは間違いない。
いいものを新鮮な気持ちで聴ける。至福といっていい。
このアーティスト、ジャズのコーナーでヴォーカルに分類されている。それはそうだろう。パティの歌がメインではある。その説得力のある声と表現力はあまりに稀少だ。ただ、ぼくはギターに関してテクニカルな知識は皆無だけれど、ギター好きが彼らの音楽を喜んで聴くのも分かる気がする。
出色の技術ながら伴奏に徹するスタンスは、結果、お互いの魅力を存分に引き出しているし、かと思えば7曲目'I Wish'ではギターファンの期待に応えるように強力なソロを演じてみせる。11曲目'All The Love'の絡み合い上りつめるような掛け合いも楽しい。時には軽快にリズムを刻み、時にはメロディアスに曲を彩る。多彩で多才。きっと、今は知らなくても、聴けば気に入るギター好きはまだまだいるはずだ。
けれども、そういう聴き方は口コミがないと難しい。
カテゴライズの弊害ともいえるけれど、発掘、発見の愉しみというのもあるだろうから一概にはいえない。これだけ雑多な音楽が溢れかえっていればこそ、巡り会った幸運を噛み締めることもできる。
ただ、自分のアンテナだけでは心許ないのも事実。
まずは未知の音に導いてくれる情報に敏感でいたいと思う。

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
